Teen Inspiring Others to Take simple Steps to Save Environment

After receiving inspiration from so many sources I decided to do something for the environment from my house itself and about a year ago I took my first step by collecting the plastic generated in my house weekly to a recycler who came to my neighbourhood regularly. I was in utter shock when I realised how much plastic just one house made.

We keep listening to these movements by various companies and govt. but I think they just inspire us for a few minutes as taking one single step demands a huge behavioural change in everyone. But that day I decided to bring that behavioural change in me and my family.

I was privileged enough to be a part of some climate action and conservation programs which gave me a deep sense of understanding of the functionalities of various Save Earth programs.

I knew I will be able to take a micro-step only but as they say, the chain starts with a lock!

I with my co-founders started a Social Media campaign called `Great waste’ which aimed at reducing plastic and related products.

I along with my team started small, by first defining what we wanted to achieve and why we wanted to do this, after that we started building our core team and had volunteers on board.

Then we started splitting into departments, working on content, reach and design, and slowly and gradually started to release our work. I am very grateful for the love we have gained! (@Greatwaste.plastic)

It was easy to decide but certainly most difficult to run, especially motivating, creating excitement, inspiring through online content and adding value to it was the hard boat to row. Also, managing and coordinating the team, Knowing the most convenient time for a meeting or work was nothing less than a daunting task.

But, I guess I was motivated enough to surpass every challenge. But I surely don’t want to miss telling how my English teacher has inspired me at every step. her words of encouragement were like magic which left me undeterred.

It’s an ongoing journey and our belief is to inspire people and make SAVE THE PLANET easy and exciting.

We hope that after reading this you will use this project to feel that it is easy to recycle and environmentally friendly.
